Poem: Life Lessons

Sometimes I wonder
what type of lessons
we’re trying to teach
each other.

We communicate without listening.
We rage and show no compassion.
We know the absolute truth,
yet, no one agrees on what that is.

We are distant and irritable,
but at least we’re right.

I think most people must
find life boring.
They’ve lived so little,
but they already
know everything.

Nice. There’s a reason for civility in discourse. It’s so that we can begin to listen to another point of view without reflexively closing our minds.
