Dusty Poems 25

The poem below is from the Dusty Poems series, a collection of poems I wrote many years ago, long before I knew how much of a force poetry would be in my life. I’ve enjoyed going through these old poems that contain a completely different voice and style than I write poetry now, but have been interesting to reflect on. I hope you enjoy them, too.

Simple

Hearts beating round
Stars falling down
Proceed my intentions
Toward your own intervention
Explanations are not so simple

Actions of later today are set aside
You step with me stride for stride
Waiting for a word
But nothing
This silence thus absurd

No clarity can I bring to this situation
There is no simple destination
But in your confusion
I can find peace
Or forget the price
Of this illusion

And it’s so simple
Isn’t it?
